The First Biennale of Natural Dyes

Prof. Koren from the Department of Chemical Engineering attended the First Biennale of Natural Dyes (BOND) at the China National Silk Museum in Hangzhou, China.

He was invited to give a talk on his scientific research titled “Purple: The Dye of Dyes”, and he also chaired a Panel Session titled “Dyes in History and Tradition”, and participated in a number of dyeing workshops offering chemical explanations for the various processes.

The meeting brought together a diverse group of about 150 artists, scientists, educators, and professional dyers from all five continents with a mutual interest in the study and use of natural dyes in history and in modern times.
