Honor Roll
A distinguished student is one studying at least 90% of the annual curriculum and whose weighted annual grade average meets the following criteria:
Faculty of Engineering:
- The total number of distinguished students may not exceed 10% of each class within each department:
- Highest honors: students with an average of 95 or higher, who are in the top 3%.
- Honors: students with an average of 90 or higher, who are in the next (top) 7%.
- If there are no students with grades of 95 or higher, the top 10% will all receive regular honors awards.
Faculty of Design:
- The total number of distinguished students may not exceed 10% of each class within each department.
- Highest honors: students with an average of 93 or higher, who are in the top 3%.
- Honors: students with an average of 89 or higher, who are in the next (top) 7%.
- If there are no students with grades of 93 or higher, the top 10% will all receive regular honors awards.
Distinction for academic achievements during study years
Honors degrees will be determined according to the candidate’s grade averages across all years of study.
Faculty of Engineering:
- The total number of distinguished students may not exceed 12% of each class within each department:
- Highest honors: students with an average of 95 or higher, who are in the top 3%.
- Honors: students with an average of 90 or higher, who are in the next (top) 9%.
- If there are no students with grades of 95 or higher, the top 12% will all receive regular honors awards.
Faculty of Design:
- The total number of distinguished students may not exceed 12% of each class within each department.
- Highest honors: students with an average of 93 or higher, who are in the top 3%.
- Honors: students with an average of 89 or higher, who are in the next (top) 9%.
- If there are no students with grades of 93 or higher, the top 12% will all receive regular honors awards.
*Excellence awards for academic achievement do not include a monetary award.
*Disciplinary violations upheld by a disciplinary committee may deny a student the right to receive an excellence award.
*A disciplinary committee can impose a penalty for denying honors even beyond one academic year.
