Shenkars’ Celebratory Evening at the Biennial for Arts and Design
Shenkar held a celebratory evening last night for members of the Board of Trustees, the Executive Committee, and friends of Shenkar, as part of the Biennial for Arts and Design, currently taking place at the Eretz Israel Museum. The event, held in a festive cocktail atmosphere, brought together senior business figures, representatives of the diplomatic community, cultural figures, creators, and Shenkar supporters, who enjoyed tours of the Shenkar’s Academic incubator and the various exhibitions on display throughout the Biennial.
The evening was led by Board of Trustees Chair Orit Efrati and Executive Committee Chair Yoav Horowitz, alongside Shenkar President Prof. Sheizaf Rafaeli and Shenkar CEO Yoni Even Tov. We were honored by the presence of the evening’s distinguished guest of honor: the wife of the President of Israel, Michal Herzog.
In her speech, Orit Efrati emphasized Shenkar’s role at the intersection of creativity, research, and innovation, and the importance of culture in shaping the future. “At Shenkar, the worlds of art and design meet with research and the most advanced technologies, driven by a desire to lead a new language of contemporary Israeli creativity — a language that holds beauty, inspiration, responsibility, and human thinking,” she said. She added that “in an era where technology is changing the world at speed, it is precisely creativity, culture, and design that determine where the world is headed.”

Efrati also addressed Shenkar’s participation in the Biennial, noting that “design is far more than aesthetics — it is a world that connects culture, creativity, thought, technology, and innovation, and above all connects people and ideas that can influence and change reality.”
Among the evening’s guests were the Ambassador of Italy to Israel, the Ambassador of Thailand to Israel, and Assi Tuchmayer of Israel Canada, alongside business figures, creators, and friends of Shenkar.
The event reflected the spirit of the Biennial and Shenkar’s worldview, which connects art, design, and engineering in an innovative and forward-thinking spirit. Through its participation in the Biennial, Shenkar continues to present the work of students, alumni, and faculty members to broad audiences, and to lead contemporary discourse on culture, technology, and social impact.
