Shenkar Hosts Delegation from UNEC University in Azerbaijan to Promote International Academic Collaborations

Shenkar International Center and Hub Shenkar hosted a senior delegation from the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) from Baku, Azerbaijan. The visit enabled an examination of opportunities for international academic collaborations and strengthening ties between the two institutions.

The meeting included a professional tour of Shenkar’s departments, followed by presentations introducing the delegation to Shenkar’s unique approach which combines design, technology, engineering, and innovation. Roei Zerahia, a senior faculty member at the School of Industrial Engineering and Management and head of Hub Shenkar, presented the STEP Shenkar program and its specializations, emphasizing the close connection between academia and industry. Michal Pauzner, senior faculty member in the Visual communication School and head of the Center for Teaching Excellence, presented Shenkar’s innovative teaching concept and advanced tools used to enhance the learning experience. Tamar Many, a senior faculty member and designer in the Visual Communication School, presented the creative and interdisciplinary approach that characterizes Shenkar’s design studies, in reference to the Morphosis project, in which students sought clothing solutions for the wounded.

The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Sanubar Safiyeva, Head of the Department of Education and Teaching Excellence, accompanied by Fidan Fatullayeva – Head of the Unit for Teaching and Learning Processes, and team, Kamina Cabrailova and Abı Abıyev.

The visit, initiated by Shenkar International Center and Hub Shenkar, is another step toward expanding Shenkar’s strategic partnerships with leading global institutions. Both parties expressed interest in exploring future collaborations in teaching excellence, pedagogical innovation, digital learning, and PBL-based academia-industry connections. Furthermore, they agreed to explore student and faculty exchanges and the development of joint academic initiatives aimed at strengthening academic ties between Israel and Azerbaijan.
