Street Renamed After Yaakov Rozen

In a ceremony held this week, a Ramat Gan street formerly named Habonim has been renamed after Yaakov Rozen, one of Shenkar’s biggest donors. Several spaces on campus bear his name, including Shenkar’s satellite space, Beit Rozen.

Yaakov Rozen, a Holocaust survivor and one of the pioneer builders of Ramat Gan, came to the city in 1946 and was a member of the Israel Builders Association’s Presidency. Rozen’s work has been invaluable to the people of Ramat Gan—adults and children alike. His contributions include Beit Rozen, Shenkar’s Institute for Sustainable Construction and Engineering, the Center for Excellence, and many other projects. In addition, Yaakov Rozen grants scholarships to high school, university, and college students living in Ramat Gan. 

Mayor of Ramat Gan Carmel Shama Hacohen: “Yaakov Rozen is a true friend and ally of Ramat Gan. The city must remember who built it and contributed to its prosperity. Yaakov Rozen is an inspiration and a role model for every child in this city. He rose from the ashes of the Holocaust, came to Israel, prospered financially, and gave back unconditionally.” 

Present at the unveiling ceremony were Yaakov Rozen and his wife Tamar, Mayor of Ramat Gan Carmel Shama Hacohen, his substitute Mr. Adam Knigsberger, CEO of the Municipality of Ramat Gan Mr. Motti Cohen, Chairman of the Israel Builder’s Association Raul Serogo, and Chairman of the Ramat Gan Foundation Shlomo Eliya.
