A delegation of twelve students from the Faculty of Engineering at Shenkar participated in the international hackathon Entrepreneurship for Twin Transformation, at the Entrepreneurship Center of HNU – University of Applied Sciences in Neu Ulm, Germany. The participation took place within the framework of the international entrepreneurship program, ISUL – International Start Up League, accompanied by the Entrepreneurship Hub and the International Center, and with the participation of 100 students from Germany, Finland, Belgium, Switzerland and Israel.
Taking part in the delegation were the students:
Amit Gordon and Shirel Orkabi from the Department of Software Engineering,
Ron Toledano and Amir Kahn from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering,
Yuval Asulin, Dana Iflah, Rokaia Fiumi and Wajd Daud from the Department of Chemical Engineering,
Eden Aharon and Einav Hakim from the Department of Polymer Materials Engineering,
Adi Usden and Hila Nakash from the School of Industrial Engineering and Management.
The students were placed in international multidisciplinary groups, and together they dealt with real challenges presented by the companies Pfersich, UZIN UTZ and LIQUI MOLY, in areas such as customer experience, employer branding, operational efficiency and innovation in the worlds of automotive, baking products and construction.
From the Department of Software Engineering, the group of Shirel Orkabi proposed an innovative concept for improving the order tracking experience for Pfersich, and the group with the participation of Amit Gordon led the development of an exciting and authentic digital candidate experience for UZIN UTZ. The chemical engineering students were also integrated into the challenge of LIQUI MOLY, which connected the worlds of chemistry, materials and marketing innovation.
Three of the students even won with their groups in the first places: Dana Iflah, Ron Toledano and Wajd Daud participated in groups that proposed solutions of an international market penetration strategy and the development of an intelligent real time package system for the company Pfersich and achieved the win.
The delegation returned to Israel with empowering professional experiences, extensive knowledge in international work, new connections and impressive accomplishments that bring great honor to Shenkar. The hackathon strengthened the status of the Faculty of Engineering as a space that combines academic excellence, system thinking and international innovation, and especially the spirit of action and pride of the students who represent Shenkar on a global stage.
