Shenkar Board of Governors Meeting 2022
This week, Shenkar’s Board of Governors held its 2022 meeting, attended by its senior management members: Orit Efrati, chair of the Board of Governors; Zvi Yemini, chair of the Executive Committee; and professor Sheizaf Rafaeli, president of Shenkar. Shenkar’s Board of Governors is the highest authoritative body in the institution and sets management, development, and budget policy principles. Its members hail from Israel and abroad and include senior figures in economy, industry and academia, as well as design, art, economy, culture and innovation in Israel.
During the event, we were honored to introduce the new members of the Shenkar Board of Governors: Julia Zohar, Eze Vidra, Inbar Kreiss, Karin Mayer Rubinstein, Jameel Istaitih, Hadas Fuhrer, Tal Goren, Miri Tuchmeir, and professor Mostapha Bousmina – president of the Euromed University of Fez in Morocco and chancellor of the Moroccan Academy of Science. Professor Mostapha is the first representative from Morocco to sit on the board of governors of an academic institution in Israel!
“I wish to congratulate our new members,” said Orit Efrati, as she began her speech. “I want to tell you that you are part of a very warm, united and welcoming family, some of whom have been together for many years. All of us sitting in this room are here because of one thing – our belief in, appreciation of, and love for Shenkar.”

“We’ve made it a goal to maximize our connections and to make Shenkar accessible beyond academia,” Orit said. “With your help and connections, we have met with many foundations, institutions and companies. All of this stems from our huge desire to promote projects and collaborations between Shenkar and industry.”
"The world is intrigued by us. We are an academy that represents a different mix of things.” – Orit Efrati.
“I believe that integration between entrepreneurship, economy and industry will help us grow a new generation of leaders and young, professional entrepreneurs – specifically in Shenkar’s core areas that are of interest to a global audience. We are allowed to dream and to become global leaders in academia and industry.”
Efrati also congratulated Nava Swersky Sofer and Emi Palmor on joining Shenkar’s Executive Committee.
Zvi Yemini, chairman of the Executive Committee, said, “Today, in the age of frequent natural disasters, we must transition from the sustainability phase to the survivability phase. We need to teach the younger generations to cope with phenomena that are out of our control and to develop technologies that will help us survive in challenging, rapidly changing conditions that can often catch us by surprise.”

He spoke about Shenkar’s possible jumping-off points within the metaverse, with an emphasis on gaming interfaces, NFT and others.
