3rd year students participated in multidisciplinary workshops as part of JamWeek #4

19 workshops, 32 hours, 55 lecturers, and 600 students: JamWeek #4 opened the 2016 spring semester with a series of fascinating collaborations between engineering, design, art, and innovation.

During the week, third year students were exposed to movement related ideas and disciplinary mix-ups. They got to know new content and inspirational worlds and promoted ideas and initiatives in several fields.

In this fourth year of the mix-up week tradition students dealt with different aspects of movement and its derivatives: from environment and energy, through science, culture, youth, and economics to memory, privacy and thinking. Musician and versatile artist Ohad Pishuf was an honorary guest and talked to students about time, sound and movement based art. He also conducted instinctive Gaga workshops that are intended to awaken senses and imagination.

Summing up the event: During the "On the way to the Basta" workshop, led by Yasha Rozov from The Department of Fashion Design, and Ariel Liphshitz from The Department of Interior Building & Environment Design, participants toured the Tikva market in southern Tel Aviv. They followed the culinary movement between traditions and cultures and cooked an Indian Gundi with locals.

articipants of the "catch and catching" workshop developed sophisticated spatial perception while using drowns and remote control cameras. Led by Dr. Ofer Shwartzglass, head of The Department of Electrical Engineering, Shiri Blumenthal, video games developer, and Yuval Bahir, lecturer at The Department of Industrial Design, they examined perceptions in space and the influence of different vision prospective.

Under the title "At the end of Ramat Gan there is a special place, where you can stand and smell the brand", students examined the connection between movement, smell, and branding. Led by Dr. Nir Debottn, faculty member at The Department of Chemical Engineering, and Oded Ben-Yehuda, lecturer at The Department of Visual Communication, they developed perfumed inspired by ISIS, the city of Tel Aviv, and Shenkar college.

The "back to the future" workshop brought old brands back to life. The first Israeli manufactured car – Sussita, citrus juice by “Asis” and the workers newspaper "Davar". Led by Dr. Elad Harrison, head of The Department of Industrial engineering; Maya Arazi, senior lecturer at The Department of Fashion Design; Yuval Saar, head of the Shenkar Institute for Design research and documentary, and Michal Koren, lecturer at The Department of Industrial Engineering, the workshop investigated the D.N.A of being an Israeli and developed its classical symbols, with a new modern case.

Participants of the "motion creativity" joined forces and translated mathematical values into extraordinary designs. Led by Professor Dganit Shtern-Shoken, head of the master’s program in design; Noa Lerner from The Department of Industrial Design; Samsun Shepran, from The Department of Textile Design; Dr. Meira Levy from The Department of Industrial Design, and Mathematics teacher Einav London, participants translated the Pythagorean theorem into a smart jewelry and the Parabolic formula into a stylish bag.
