Curriculum and Majors: The Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department
The Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department offers studies in small study-groups and a pleasant atmosphere by the best lecturers from the academy, as well as the industry. Each student is provided with a computerized work station and is granted access to well-equipped laboratories, furnished with cutting-edge equipment.
The curriculum has four objectives: providing a deep and thorough understanding of basic sciences (mathematics, physics and computers), developing engineering and management skills, studying the cutting-edge technological advancements in the industry and the most advanced communication devices, as well as nurturing the creative abilities of the students, encouraging the graduate to business entrepreneurship and development.
The Department’s Majors are:
- Electronic Communication: In the framework of this major, the students receive a rich background in RF system, while addressing both wire and wireless systems. This major focuses on updated digital communication systems (including communication using optic fibers), addresses the various problems thereof and current solutions, as well as teaching effective encoding methods and computer network protocols, as required in today’s market.
- VLSI, Chip Design and Microelectronics: Electronic chips are not only processors and computer CPU; They are integrated in every electronic system, whether in communication devices, screens, air-conditioners, refrigerators or cars.
This field is wide and is highly sought after by the electronic industry in Israel and worldwide. In this major, the student will receive knowledge in design, imaging, design verification and testing of integrated silicon chips circuits, both digital and analog. Various large corporations in this field operate in Israel, such as Intel, Apple and IBM, as well as a large number of start-up companies. The design, imaging and verification skills tought to the students are extremely advanced and meet the requirements of the today’s industry.
- Lighting: The lighting field is developing and is highly sought after both in Israel and worldwide. In the framework of this major, the student will gain a multi-disciplinary knowledge on design of “sophisticated” outdoor and indoor lighting sytems, as well as screen lighting and design, while using models and components currently in use by this industry. Additionally, the student will learn how to incorporate the need for advanced lighting (efficient and designed) with various structures and the environment. The design, imaging and verification skills tough to the students are extremely advanced and meet the requirements of the today’s industry.
The department’s graduates are already employed by the electronics industry and by various hi-tech companies, and some are currently studying for their master’s degree in electronics engineering.
