M.Sc. Program: Curriculum
The curriculum includes 42 credit points (excluding any required complementary courses on the basis of the B.Sc. studies), of which:
- A final project worth 4 credit points, with a mandatory participation in a departmental seminar.
- 38 credit points will be provided as courses (in addition to any complementary courses, as applicable), of which:
18 credit points as mandatory courses (core studies)
8 credit points as mandatory courses of two possible majors: industrial engineering or industrial management.
12 credit points as elective courses per major. - Additional credit (up to 9 credit points) will be awarded to candidates who completed or transferred from a recognized M.Sc. program in industrial engineering and management or another relevant discipline.
Upon their enrollment, students could elect one of two majors, which will be mentioned in their degree:
- Operations Management: provides advanced knowledge in planning and management of infrastructure for production, industry and storage, while specializing in various analytic and planning tools used by engineers.
- Industrial Management: The purpose of this major is to provide knowledge on the management of small and medium size factories, as well as the wholesale and logistics arrays operated thereby.
As an introduction to their final projects, students of both majors will be obligated to take part in a “Global Operations Strategies” course/workshop, after which, they will prepare their final projects.
Please note: The term of this M.Sc. program is limited to eight semesters. Approved leave will not be regarded in the term. In order to pass, the student must receive a grade of at least 65 per course and at least 75 in the final project thereof.
An average grade of at least 75 is required in order to complete the program and be awarded with a M.Sc. Degree.
The final project will be written individually and involve around a practical problem (not a research problem). The project will be scientifically accurate and provide practical solutions.
Each student of the program will choose a potential advisor after developing a proposal for his/her final project, while coordinating with the final projects coordinator. The advisors will be approved by the head of the program. After the advisor will agree to advise the student on a particular topic, the student shall prepare a summary of the final project proposal under the guidance and approval of the advisor, mentioning the topic thereof in Hebrew and English, and shall submit it to the approval of the M.Sc. committee, which will be comprised of the head of the department, head of the program and the final projects coordinator.
Student will submit their final project topic no later than the lapse of two semesters of their studies.
