Neil Nenner (B 1977) studied his B.Des in the industrial design department at Shenkar College of engineering, design and art. Graduated from the Master’s degree program in industrial design at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem.
Since setting up his own practice in Tel Aviv in 2013, he has designed furniture, products and exhibitions, and created a number of limited edition pieces, his works have been presented at international events such as London design Festival, Paris Design week, Barcelona design week, state of design Berlin, at galleries and Museums in Vienna, Cologne, Taipei, Lisbon, Belgrade, Paris, and Jerusalem. His solo exhibition: “Punctuation marks” have been shown at the Saga Gallery in Tel Aviv, he received the minister of culture excellence design award at 2015.
His work celebrates the simplicity of materials and forms, and explores the coming together of cultures, technology, industrial design and fine craftsmanship. His approach, oriented to research of essential things, always careful to men centrality.
Neil is an industrial designer and educator. He has vast experience in the field of product, furniture and exhibition design, he was one of the founders of Gaga & Design, a furniture design brand. His studio collaborates with artists, companies, museums and designers among them- Tel Aviv museum of art, herzliya museum, Jerusalem municipality, Highcon, and more.
He is deeply involved in design education, he is an experienced teacher and a tutor, working as a lecturer at Shenkar industrial design department where he is teaching for the last 9 years. His experience includes courses, workshops and talks as well as design research projects and international collaborations. He was a leading teacher of the “Home” project, a collaboration between Shenkar ID department and Chengdu University of science and technology in China. Lead groups at “reinventing shopping”, collaborations between Shenkar, Cornell tech, and Sears. Neil is leading the “Master class” program, an annual workshops week at the ID department, and the furniture design course. He is teaching at the new multidisciplinary program of Shenkar. And tutoring students for their final project.
He is also a lecturer at the Technion, teaching design courses at Architecture faculty. At HIT ID department.
He is a visiting lecturer at CUT Chengdu, Hadassah College and Tel Aviv University.
