Vision and Profile of Program Graduates

The diverse employment and research areas in the digital games sector attract a myriad of people from various backgrounds. We expect that the program’s graduates will find a place in the gaming and media industry in the following professional fields:

Game Designer

Game designers create the game mechanics of the game. They design the players’ behavior in the game by writing the rules of the game, which determine the manner in which it is played. This a central role in the production of any game experience. 

Level Designer

While game designers determine the rules of the game, level designers work on game engines designing the stage and creating puzzles, ambiance and environment. This is a central and crucial role in game companies.

Game Artist

The training and knowledge imparted by the degree’s courses, will allow students arriving with an academic background in art and design to expand their fields of knowledge in the development of an artistic concept and acquire essential knowledge about the mechanics and technology required to develop games. The gaming industry needs animators and illustrators with specific knowledge in gaming platforms and with an understanding of the technological and design processes required for the visual design of the game experience.

Game Analyst

Program graduates will be able to continue in their field of research in research laboratories engaged in game experiences, interaction design and user behaviors, or use the knowledge they acquired in understanding the gaming product to work in game companies in digital analyst positions, and assist in implementing measuring tools for games, performing market tests, competitive analysis, user analysis and providing recommendations for game experience optimization and improvement.

User Experience Designer

The specialization of interface design for games requires specific knowledge and understanding of game experiences and user experiences in a wide range of games. Often, the game interface is an integral part of the player’s progress in the game and in the development of the players learning curve. The knowledge acquired over the course of the degree is essential for designers seeking to specialize in game interface and screen design.

Curator – for game museums, exhibitions and conferences

Recent years have seen an increase in the interest and demand for curators in the fields of gaming arts and interaction design. We expect that our graduates will have significant knowledge and experience in promoting the art of games in the museology scene.

Game Producer 

Game producers are fully involved in the development process. Their areas of responsibility vary based on the project and company, but as a rule, the people responsible for game production mediate between the developers and those with a stake in the high standard of the game (publishers, senior executives in the company). Producers are responsible for the development process – game design and visual design, timetables, budget and presentation of progress to stakeholders. 

Game Programmer

Graduates with a strong knowledge in programing can expand their qualifications and find a place in game companies in advanced programing positions. After having acquired knowledge and experience in work on game engines, artificial intelligence, sound programming, and gameplay programming.

Game Writer

Game script writers work closely with the game designer to create game treatment documents, scenes and write dialogs, together with the people responsible for illustrating the characters and ambiance, to finalize the nature of the characters and game ambiance. 

Journalist and Game Broadcaster

The development of the competitive gaming sector – esports – has resulted in new range of game journalism and narration positions. This industry needs of people with presentation and writing abilities as well as in depth knowledge of role-playing games, such as play-by-play narrators, who cover the sporting event, along with the various insights and comments of experts in the field.

Product Manager

Over recent years, the role of product managers in the game world has developed along with the establishment of free to play games. Product managers are responsible for maintaining the game’s business goals, while defining a strategy to achieve the PKI – Product Key Indicators; for example, the percent of people who installed the game and then came back to it the next day, and working with the development team, the creative team and game owners.

Gamification Expert

Gamification is the incorporation of game elements in non-gaming products, to create motivation and interest in users and customers. Nowadays, gamification experts are sought after in a large array of industries and companies interested in expanding and retaining their clientele. Specialization in game design studies is a strong foundation for implementation of game elements, in both digital and physical products, of which the main objective is not a game experience.

Toy Designer and technology-based game experiences

Program graduates will be trained to work alongside toy designers interested in incorporating technology in their products, to enrich the game experience. The Toy Tech (technological toys) and App Toy (toys based on solar technology) sector has increased gradually, hand in hand with the growing prosperity of the gaming industry, along with the need for people with training in game technologies and devices, as well as knowledge in writing and designing game mechanics.
