Everything you want to know about chemistry, processes, properties and applications of Thermoset Plastics, in a new handbook by Prof. Hanna Dodiuk

This week, following two years of writing and editing efforts, the "Handbook of Thermoset Plastics" was published by Prof. Hanna Dodiuk.  Hanna is the Head of the Master's degree program in the Department of Polymer Materials Engineering and one of the leading investigators in this thematic subject in Israel and abroad.

In her Handbook, Prof. Dodiuk, collected the principles of chemistry, production processes, properties and applications of the thermoset polymer family. These polymers are the basis for structural materials, composite materials, adhesives and coatings for advanced applications.

The handbook encompasses chapters written by leading researchers and experts in thermosets, from 10 different countries: United States, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Russia, India and South America in addition to staff members and students from the Polymer Materials Engineering Department in Shenkar.

The Handbook contains contemporary chapters dealing with radiation chemistry for 3D printing, coatings and adhesives, polymers possessing dynamic structures designed for recycling of polymers, polymer nanocomposites and dual curing polymer systems for microelectronics, communications, transportation, aviation and space industries.

Prof. Hanna Dodiuk earned her Ph.D. degree in the Chemistry Department in Tel Aviv University with distinction. Following a short Post- doctoral fellowship in Germany, she joined Rafael, where she reached the position of the Director of the Materials and Processes Department. In Rafael she developed an international position in the field of Thermoset Polymers, mainly in adhesives and coatings. She published more than 180 papers that were cited thousands of times, wrote 30 patents and published 3 books.

She continued to study and develop these thematic subjects in Shenkar for the last 25 years, that earned her an international stance. Lastly, Prof. Dodiuk was elected as a member of the Council for Higher Education, where she serves on a number of committees.
