ARTS THREAD: SHENKAR 2020 JEWELLERY DESIGN GRADUATES

This year’s graduating class from Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art’s jewellery design course exhibited their work on the school’s campus during the summer. Pieces on display from the class of 2020 explore folk tales, anxiety, emotion and accessibility. ARTS THREAD looks at some of the best projects on display.

Inbar Avneri’s collection of brass and gold plated jewellery is inspired by Jorge Luis Borges’ book, Imaginary Beings. Each piece in the collection is a study of a different animal creature from folk tales, made into a 3D metal form.

Maria Lepukhova’s Soul collection of silver, plexiglass and pearl jewellery explores the point of contact between the materials that form a jewel. By using the transparent materials, Lepukhova aims to expose the ‘soul’ of the piece.
