The Drive to Design: International design symposium about Car Design
19/5/16 10:00 - 17:00 Auditorium 2000 /// 8 Yeda-Am st., Ramat-Gan
The Industrial Design Department at Shenkar will host an international design symposium focusing on Car Design, named The Drive to Design*.
During the past decade, technological, environmental and economic changes are continuously revolutionizing the concept of transportation and the way in which it effects our lives as individuals and as a society. Car-sharing, connected driverless cars and even hovering or flying cars are part of the possible reality.
The car is still an object of desire, a metaphor for sensuality, a cultural icon, an analogy for power, a symbol of freedom, the optimal intimacy space and one of the Industrial Design discipline archetypes. In the heart of this exceptional making, linking man and machine, stands the designer.
In an attempt to unravel the mystery that lies at the base of our love affair with the car, we invited some of the best Car Designers, who during this day will tell their stories, present their work and allow a glimpse into what goes behind the scenes of the profession.
