Shenkar College is unique in its close connections and cooperation with Israeli industry in all fields. Courses are continually adapted and new courses added to suit the various changing needs of industry.
The academic departments try to send students to an internship with industry in the summer vacation between their 3rd and 4th years of study – this also includes many of the engineering departments, wherever possible. By the end of the 3rd year the students have enough knowledge and maturity in their field to be able to enhance the company that takes them as an intern. The host company gains a talented and open-minded student with fresh and bright ideas that can be implemented successfully into the company, and the students return with a profound understanding of the role of the designer/engineer in the international arena.
In recent years with the growing strength and reputation of the design faculty more and more students have been found placements abroad. These placements have mostly been found by Mrs. Charlotte Fainblatt of the American Friends of Shenkar College, Mr. Herschel Segal of the Canadian Friends of Shenkar College and Mr. Richard Schiffer and Mrs. Judy Cohen of the British Friends of Shenkar College.
With the growth in all areas of design, Shenkar College has expanded and there are now six departments covering all the aspects of design that industry could want – Fashion Design, , Industrial Design, Interior Building and Environment Design, Jewelry Design, Textile Design and Visual Communication.
