Industrial Engineering & Management

Welcome to the School of Industrial Engineering & Management

Industrial engineering and management involves the initiation, design, planning, organization, operation and monitoring of complex systems in business, technology, and industrial organizations and is the most sought after of all the fields of engineering. From its inception, the School of Industrial Engineering & Management at Shenkar has been guided by the following vision: “To be the preferred school of industrial engineering and management both regionally and nationally.”

The school, one of the largest academic units for industrial engineering and management in Israel, is a leader in teaching, research and engagement with the professional and civil community in Israel and around the world.

The School of Industrial Engineering & Management at Shenkar offers bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in industrial engineering and management that emphasize advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and big data, alongside pioneering managerial approaches such as innovation, entrepreneurship, product management, business strategy, fashion design management, retail and sustainability. Note that the school includes a flexible program for working students (the “Studies and Career” program) in addition to its regular program; and that applications and admissions for the bachelor’s degree program are open twice a year, including applications for the spring semester (the “Soft Landing” program).

The school leads national activities in industrial engineering and management, including the Ira Foundation for Business, Technology & Society’s National Hackathon that takes place each year before Passover; and takes part in organizing national industrial engineering and management conferences that integrate academia and industry.

The school is closely involved in the professional and business community as well as civil society, offering leadership to industry initiatives, such as the women’s initiative in Jisr az-Zarqa. We offer a seminar on innovation and entrepreneurship as part of JA-YE Israel’s Young Entrepreneurs Israel program, a year-long program in which university students guide high schoolers from the length and breadth of the country in business, technology and social entrepreneurship.

The school’s steering committee is made up of leading academics and professionals. Each year, the school’s administration reviews the curriculum, updating it in keeping with market and economic trends. Alongside its academic programs, the school offers a practical training program in industry (the STEP program); sends academic delegations abroad; promotes studies in English; and fosters and facilitates collaborations with Shenkar’s academic units for engineering and design. We are thereby able to ensure that the graduates of each cohort can successfully handle all aspects of the profession’s dynamic challenges.

For the past ten years, the School of Industrial Engineering & Management has offered an M.Sc. Program in Industrial Engineering and Management. This unique program, which has no equivalent in Israel, is available to graduates of any bachelor’s degree (not necessarily in engineering). The program is also offered to outstanding industrial engineering and management bachelor’s degree students at Shenkar who would like to complete both their bachelor’s and master’s degree within five years. It offers courses that focus on business, technological and organizational innovation and includes a unique directors’ seminar that provides a director’s certificate, and a graduate project under the tutelage of a senior faculty member. The graduate project can relate to a subject drawn from each student’s occupation.
