A new multidisciplinary learning center opened at Shenkar

Shenkar library, the next generation: a multidisciplinary learning center opened in the fall semester 2015, offering an interactive, advanced and enjoyable learning environment.

As part of the constant improvement efforts of the Shenkar library, it was decided to provide further services and tools for students and faculty to improve research and learning conditions. The 3rd floor of the Mitchell building was designated to fulfill these objectives. The department of interior, structure and environmental design was replaced with a modular area for group and self-study, as well as reading zones and computer stations. In addition, a computerized classroom was built to enable online and long distance learning.

The learning center was designed by Tali Shabtai who graduated from the department of interior, structure and environmental design at Shenkar. Shabtai took into consideration the academic needs of the students as she listened to their request to improve the learning experience. Members of the library committee also donated their time and knowledge as well as the heads of academic departments and the student union.

As part of the library upgrade, it was decided that opening hours will be extended to comply with the opening hours at the Mitchell building and therefor the new center will be open for students until 10 PM daily throughout the semester, and will remain open 24-7 during finals.
